Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about No There, There

General Questions

What is No There, There?

No There, There is an ecosystem of meditative Web3 games that explores the beauty of simplicity through generative art. Each game uses different parametric and algorithmic systems to create unique, procedural worlds that never repeat. It's not about winning or losing, but about exploration, aesthetic contemplation, and leaving your trace in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Who created this project?

The project is created by Alexandr Letsius & Kristina Karpysheva (404.zero), internationally recognized artists in generative art, musicians and AV-architects, together with dimaznam.eth (Dmitry Znamenskiy), co-founder of SETUP studio (setup.design) and producer in multimedia projects.

Why is it called "No There, There"?

The name reflects the paradox at the heart of the experience - you're exploring a space that has no fixed center, no edges, just continuous motion and attention. It's inspired by the concept of decentralized, ever-shifting digital spaces.

The game doesn't want to be won - it wants to be wandered. This is the paradox: there's no center, no edge, just motion, just attention.

Gameplay Questions

How do I play There One?

Simply connect your wallet or Farcaster account, and you'll spawn in an infinite field. Use arrow keys (desktop) or drag gestures (mobile) to move. Explore the procedurally generated patterns, find things, and leave your trace.

What are "steps" and why do they run out?

Steps represent your exploration capacity. Each movement consumes steps, creating a resource management element. When steps run out, you can:

  • Purchase more with $ThereOne tokens
  • End your session and view results
  • Share your journey

How do things work?

"Things" are the small treasures you find while exploring - these are the tokens left behind by other players' journeys. When you discover a thing, you'll see a special visual effect and tokens ($NoThere or $ThereOne) are automatically added to your game account (you can withdraw them later).

Can I play without crypto?

Yes! You can start playing by logging in with Farcaster, and you'll receive 404 free steps to explore. However, to continue playing beyond the free allocation, you'll need $ThereOne tokens.

Token Questions

Why are there two different tokens?

  • $NoThere is the ecosystem token providing abstract influence across all current and future games
  • $ThereOne is the specific game token for purchasing steps in the first game

This dual-token model creates both immediate utility and long-term value accrual.

We're exploring the use of content tokens like $ThereOne as tools to provide greater utility than traditional tokens. Each game in the ecosystem will have its own content token, creating specific use cases while maintaining connection to the core $NoThere ecosystem token.

How does $NoThere influence the game?

The more $NoThere tokens you hold in your wallet, the more powerful your presence becomes:

  • Movement Speed: Navigate the field faster with more tokens
  • Character Size: Your avatar appears larger and more massive
  • Field of Vision: See more of the infinite landscape around you
  • Visual Effects: Enhanced trail effects, unique shaders, and stronger representation
  • Future Games: These benefits carry forward to all upcoming game series

Your token balance directly affects your exploration experience - making $NoThere both a utility and an aesthetic enhancement.

Where does my $ThereOne go when I spend it?

  • 80% returns to the game as things for other players to find
  • 10% is burned (removed from circulation) through a special burn contract
  • 10% goes to development and maintenance

This creates a self-sustaining economy where active players can potentially recover their investment.

How do I buy tokens?

$NoThere can be purchased on ZORA.CO:

  1. Connect wallet with Base network
  2. Navigate to official token page
  3. Purchase desired amount

$ThereOne cannot be purchased directly. You must:

  1. Own $NoThere tokens
  2. Exchange them in-game at 1:1 rate
  3. Note: 20% of $NoThere is burned, 80% goes to things

See our detailed guide for step-by-step instructions.

Technical Questions

What blockchain is this built on?

The project uses Base (Coinbase's Layer 2) for fast, affordable transactions while maintaining Ethereum security.

What are procedural generation systems?

These are mathematical and algorithmic models that create unique, organic patterns in real-time. Each game in the No There, There ecosystem uses different parametric systems and generative algorithms, ensuring that no two experiences are ever the same. The landscapes are created "here and now" as you play, making every journey unique.

Is the game fully on-chain?

The tokens and things distribution are on-chain. The game logic runs on distributed servers for real-time performance, with blockchain integration for economic elements.

What platforms will the game be available on?

The game will be available on:

  • Web browsers (desktop and mobile)
  • Miniapps on platforms like Farcaster, Base, and others
  • Mobile web (PWA - Progressive Web App)
  • Future expansions to additional platforms as we grow

Community Questions

How can I see other players?

In future updates, you'll see traces of other players in real-time. The roadmap includes local chat, following via Farcaster, and collaborative exploration features.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes! Two categories:

  • Steps: Players who've traveled the farthest
  • Prizes: Players who've found the most tokens

Can I create my own levels?

The Q3 2025 roadmap includes a level launcher system where community members can create and host their own generative fields.

How do I stay updated?

Why can't I buy $ThereOne on ZORA?

$ThereOne is designed as a pure game utility token. By making it obtainable only through in-game exchange, we ensure:

  • Fair distribution based on actual gameplay
  • No speculation or whale accumulation
  • Direct connection between token acquisition and game participation
  • Sustainable game economy

Why can't I trade game tokens on DEXs?

We've intentionally disabled free trading of game tokens (ThereOne, ThereTwo, etc.) to consolidate liquidity and attention on our ecosystem token $NoThere. This creates a stronger, more focused economy. However, we're not ruling out DEX trading for game tokens in the future - we'll make decisions based on market conditions and community feedback.

How does the exchange work?

When you exchange $NoThere for $ThereOne in-game:

  • Exchange rate: 1:1
  • Minimum: 10 tokens
  • Maximum: 1,000,000 tokens per transaction
  • 20% of your $NoThere is burned permanently
  • 80% goes into the things pool
  • You receive the full amount in $ThereOne

Example: Exchange 100 $NoThere → Get 100 $ThereOne (20 $NoThere burned, 80 to things)

When will the games launch?

There One Timeline:

  • May 2025: MVP/Demo version
  • July 2025: Beta version & NFT releases
  • July 2025: Public launch (desktop, mobile, miniapps)
  • August 2025: Platform expansion

There Two Timeline:

  • August 2025: MVP/Demo version
  • September 2025: Beta version & NFT releases
  • September 2025: Public launch
  • October 2025: Platform expansion

Economic Questions

Is this an investment?

No. Tokens are utility tokens for gameplay and aesthetic influence. While they may have market value, they should be purchased for use in the ecosystem, not as investments.

$NoThere is an ecosystem token designed to provide utility across multiple games. As new games are added to the ecosystem, the token's utility expands through new use cases and influence mechanics. However, this increased utility does not guarantee any financial returns, and tokens should be acquired solely for their intended use within the No There, There ecosystem.

What about future game series?

Each new series will:

  • Introduce its own game token (ThereTwo, ThereThree, etc.)
  • Feature completely different parametric and algorithmic systems
  • Require $NoThere for influence effects
  • Add new mechanics and art styles
  • Increase utility for $NoThere holders

Game tokens will initially be obtainable only through gameplay, maintaining focus on the ecosystem token.

Can I earn money playing?

While 80% of spent tokens return as findable things, this is designed for sustainability, not profit. Play for the experience, not earnings.

How many free steps do I get?

Every new player receives 404 free steps to begin their exploration. After that, you'll need $ThereOne tokens to purchase more steps.

What are the NFTs in the game?

Each player automatically receives a personal NFT on their first game session. This NFT:

  • Visualizes your unique journey through the game world
  • Updates with your statistics (steps taken, things found, total value)
  • Is soulbound (non-transferable) to your wallet
  • Serves as a permanent record of your exploration

What kind of things can I find?

"Things" are the small findings you discover during exploration - essentially tokens that other players have left behind through their movements and activities. They're randomly distributed throughout the infinite field with varying rarities and values. Each thing contains a mix of $NoThere and $ThereOne tokens. The rarity and value are determined by the game's algorithm.

When do tokens launch?

$NoThere already launched in April 2025! Contract: 0x659a07dcc7f853cc626a6807f3557d15ca138772 Buy on ZORA

Game tokens ($ThereOne, $ThereTwo, etc.) launch with their respective games.

Can I sell tokens later?

$NoThere: Yes, freely tradeable on DEXs (Uniswap, BaseSwap) and peer-to-peer.

Game tokens ($ThereOne, etc.): Currently not tradeable on DEXs to consolidate liquidity on $NoThere. This may change in the future based on community feedback and market conditions.
